Antioxidation activity and Inhibition of B16F10 melanoma cell from Moutan Cortex from Ethanol Extracts.

Abstract
Moutan Cortex extracts has been reported to have radical scavenging activity. On these facts, biological activity and whitening effect were examined to evaluate a bioactivity of the extracts of Moutan Cortex Radicis by extraction conditions as a possible functional cosmetic agent material. We prepared ethanol extracts. Fractionation is hexane and dichloromethane and ethyl acetate and butanol and water. This is measured DPPH assay, NBT/XO assay, tyrosinase assay and MSH-induced melanin production in B-16 cells and MTT assay. Ethyl acetate and butanol fractionation of Moutan Cortex Radicis showed dose-dependently anti-oxidant activity in DPPH, NBT/XO assay. Also, ethyl acetate fraction significantly inhibited tyrosinase activity and MSH-stimulated melanin production in B-16 cells. Therefore, these results suggest that ethyl acetate fraction of Moutan Cortex Radicis will be developed as a functional cosmetic agent, such as excellent whitening agent.
